Teens: Get Your 60!

By Eric Muellejans

It seems that teens don’t understand the importance of getting at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Most kids will spend hours in front of a screen on Facebook or Pwning Noobs on Call of Duty. Then, they wonder why they don’t look good enough. Meanwhile the answer is really very simple.

Getting your 60 minutes doesn’t have to be something really aggressive. It can be as simple as going for a walk. There as so many ways you can get your 60:

  • Hiking
  • Walking up stairs
  • Skateboarding
  • Biking or walking to meet your friends
  • Playing laser tag or paintball
  • Doing ANY sport
  • Lifting weights
  • Carrying heavy objects
  • Getting UP to change the TV channel instead of using the remote

You don’t have to do all your 60 minutes at one time. You can space it out through the day. 30 minutes twice a day or 20 minutes 3 times a day, etc. The basic idea is to get your body moving for at least an hour each day.

Teens who get their 60 are less likely to be depressed and are more likely to have higher self-confidence.

I get my 60 by playing football, working out at GoodLife, and doing yard work. Doing different activities keeps me motivated so I don’t get bored.

How do you get your 60?
