Zumba is taking the world by storm. Unlike other workout programs, Zumba is a lot more fun because it is more of a Latin dance party than an excruciating fitness regime. History of Zumba

Colombian professional dancer and choreographer Alberto Perez, commonly known as “Beto” Perez, invented zumba in the early ‘90s. The Latin music in zumba was actually an accident, as Beto forgot to bring his aerobic music in class, so he decided to put on his favorite Latin music and zumba was born. Zumba is more of a cardio workout and involves continuous body movement, making you sweat more. Zumba vs Aerobics

Many are still curious as to what the difference is between aerobics and zumba. Perhaps we should point out the similarities first:

Weight loss – Since both zumba and aerobics can make you sweat, they’re both proven to help people lose weight.

Social circle – You’re likely to work out in a group, so you get the chance to make friends with fellow aerobic/zumba enthusiasts.

And here are the differences:

Entertainment – Although both aerobics and zumba are entertaining, it is believed that zumba is far more entertaining. It is for the reason that zumba utilizes Latin music, and participants learn how to dance the many forms of this music genre.

Muscle building – Zumba involves dancing and this means you have to continuously move to the beat but do not require entire body movements. Meanwhile, aerobics works on every part of the body and also involves weight lifting which helps tone your muscles. If you are looking to tone your muscles specifically, then you should opt for aerobics.

Before getting into any fitness regime, it is important to know what you need first. Do you want a flatter tummy? Slimmer thighs or toned muscles? Or you just want to trim a few inches off your waist? Realizing your fitness goals should be top priority before signing up for a gym membership or aerobic/zumba class.
