Top 5 Foods for Fighting Inflammation

Many of us have seen and felt the effects of inflammation as soreness, swelling, redness and pain, which present after a bite, scratch or at any site of injury on our bodies. This is a natural, automatic and rapid healing response that stimulates immune activity and brings nourishment and reinforcement to the site in order to prevent infection, repair damage and speed recovery.

The problem arises when inflammation becomes prolonged a persistent which destroys normal cells and leads to many serious, often age-related, chronic illnesses such as diabetes, heart disease, autoimmune illnesses such as arthritis, and cancer. Extended periods of stress, inadequate nutrition and excess exposure to environmental toxins may contribute to the cause. Manifestations of this often silent form of inflammation are migraines, insomnia, food allergies and skin rashes among many others.
