What’s the Motto with you?

Dear Reader, I am writing you on a piercingly cold winter day – my birthday. I have reached the big 29! Though I studied math through school, there is little chance I will be rounding up to the dirty thirty.  Some rules of math just don’t apply to emotion. I feel great today. I am happy.

I have recently been practicing yoga and one of the many wonderful things I have learned is to set my intention for the day.  In spirit of this I have decided to set my intention for 29: Be happy with my present place, moment and task, and give everything to each moment expecting nothing in return.

Put yourself in this place with me.  Imagine now, you have everything you need because you are happy with everything you have.  You are then happy and ready to take on whatever comes your way.  You live every moment to the fullest, giving all your energy to it.  Now, because you are happy with everything you have, you need nothing back in return.

Wouldn’t that be nice?  Have I just created a “perfect world” scenario?  All I know is that I am going to give it a try.  If at any moment I am feeling sorry for myself or envious of others, I will be sure to ask myself “what’s the motto with me?”

So as the title of this article suggests, I am asking you the very same thing. What guiding line will carry you today, tomorrow and for the remaining 363 days? My only suggestion is to make this something that can apply to any situation and that will propel you toward your heart’s desire.

Yours in practice, Jason
